On June 1, 2017, PCB Multan was bought by Schon Properties for a total of $5.2 million per year, making it the most expensive team in the Pakistan Super League. In November 2018, the rights were terminated because of payment issues. PCB Multan started inviting bids and resold the sixth team to the Ali Tareen consortium for a bid of $6.35 million for a seven-year term ending December 20, 2017.
In the 2017 PSL League, Peshawar Zalmi emerged as the champion as it defeated Quetta Gladiators in a match held at Lahore on Match 5. Islamabad United is the title holder, having won the title on March 25, 2018 in Karachi.
