If you are a cricket fan, especially European cricket, you have probably heard of the Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy. It is a cricket tournament in a Twenty20 format, participated in by four top cricketing provinces of Ireland.
The tournament first took place in 2013 and is held in three provinces across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. In 207, another province was added, the province of Munster Reds.

The popularity of cricket in Ireland is one of the reasons for the creation of Inter-Provincial T20. It started working on its cricket academy to search for the best cricket players in the country and eventually improve the country’s chances of winning in international cricket competitions.
The Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy follows a double round-robin format. Each competing team plays against each other twice. One match is played at the team’s homecourt while the other match is away from home. There were three teams that initially participated in the tournament, and they represented the three provincial unions in Ireland that are known to be the strongest in Irish cricket. These are the Northern, North West, and Leinster. They were eventually given names that would give an easy name recall to cricket fans: North West Warriors, Northern Knights, and Leinster Lightning. In the 2017 season, Munster were added and were given the name Munster Reds.
